Tira Greene
is a specialist in legal reform and drafting in Developing Countries
and she has successfully worked on several international projects,
particularly in the fields of Intellectual
Property, E-commerce and Telecommunications.
Ms. Greene was born
in Trinidad and graduated from the University of the West Indies where
she received her law degree and an Advanced Diploma in International
law. She has trained internationally in legislative drafting, intellectual
property law and international law.
After graduation
from law school she worked in the private sector in Trinidad before
joining the Government of Trinidad and Tobago as a legislative drafter
and adviser, where she worked for four years.
In the Government
of Trinidad & Tobago she was involved in several key legal and
regulatory reform projects including the drafting of new Intellectual
Property legislation, preparation
of a National Policy
on Telecommunications and new Companies legislation.
She also advised
on and drafted numerous other pieces of legislation including legislation
on Firearms, Shipping, Harbors, the Dental Profession, Cane Farmers
Association, Fishing, Forests, Attorneys at Law Remuneration, Civil
Aviation, Taxation, Securities and Customs.
Ms. Greene has extensive
experience working with international organizations, the multilateral,
international law firms, governments and the private sector. A team
player, she possesses a native understanding of issues relating to legal
and regulatory reform in developing countries and is very conversant
with legislative drafting in Commonwealth countries and with the legal
system and public sector of the English speaking Caribbean. She currently
provides technical expertise as a consultant to the World Intellectual
Property Organization and the Inter-American Development Bank.
